Chapter 494: The Fantasy World: Lin Xiao's Adventure in the Dark Forest
Lin Xiao trembled as she stepped into the eerie black forest. The moonlight seemed to be covered by a thick black veil, and only a few faint and strange rays of light could occasionally shine through the gaps between the dense branches and leaves. A creepy fog filled the air, as if hiding countless unknown dangers. Lin Xiao tightly grasped the dagger in her hand, and the cold light of the dagger flickered in the darkness, just like her uneasy heart at the moment.
"This damn place is simply hell on earth!" Lin Xiao bit her lip and muttered to herself in a trembling voice. Her footsteps were as light as a cat's, and she took every step carefully, for fear of startling something terrible.
Suddenly, a cold wind blew past, and the leaves made a chilling rustling sound, which sounded like countless ghosts whispering in the darkness.
Lin Xiao couldn't help but shudder, and his body shrank involuntarily, "Oh my god, why is the wind so cold? It feels like it's going to freeze my bones!"
Just then, a huge black bat passed over her head like a dark shadow, bringing with it a gust of eerie cool breeze.
"Ah!" Lin Xiao screamed in fright, instinctively hugged his head with both hands, squatted on the ground, and his heartbeat instantly accelerated as if it was about to jump out of his throat.
After she recovered a little, Lin Xiao took a deep breath, tried to calm herself down, and continued to move forward fearfully.
As she walked, she came to a three-way intersection. The ground at the intersection was covered with fallen leaves and dead branches, and it looked like no one had walked there for a long time.
"Where should I go? It feels like every road is a trap leading to death." Lin Xiao frowned, his face full of confusion and fear.
Just as she was hesitating, a gloomy voice sounded faintly in her ears: "Little girl, go left, there is what you want."
Lin Xiao was frightened by the sudden voice and almost lost her soul. "Who? Who is talking? Come out if you dare!" she shouted loudly, her voice full of fear and anger.
However, there was no response except her own echo.
Lin Xiao bit her lip, a hint of hesitation flashed across her eyes, but she finally decided to follow the voice's instructions and go left.
The road became narrower and narrower, and the trees on both sides became denser and denser, blocking out almost all the moonlight. The darkness was like a huge monster, pouncing on Lin Xiao with its fangs and claws bared.
"What a crappy place this is. It's getting more and more eerie and scary." Lin Xiao muttered, his forehead covered with cold sweat.
Suddenly, a dilapidated temple appeared in front of us. The door of the temple was half-open, and a faint candlelight shone through it, swaying in the darkness, as if it would go out at any time.
Lin Xiao hesitated for a moment, feeling anxious. "Should I go in? What if there's something scary in there?"
Just as she hesitated, a gust of wind blew, and the temple door creaked open wider.
Lin Xiao gritted his teeth and made up his mind, "Who cares? Let's go in and take a look!"
She walked over cautiously, and just as she was about to push the door open, a pale hand stretched out from inside.
"Ah!" Lin Xiao was so scared that he stepped back and sat down on the ground.
"Don't be afraid, little girl." A hoarse voice came from inside the door.
Lin Xiao raised his head and saw a mysterious man in a black robe standing at the door. His face was covered by shadows and his features could not be seen clearly.
"Who are you?" Lin Xiao asked tremblingly.
The mysterious man said slowly: "I am the one who can help you get out of this forest, but you have to agree to one condition of mine."
"What conditions?" Lin Xiao looked at him warily.
"Help me find a lost treasure." said the mysterious man.
Lin Xiao frowned, "How do I know if what you said is true?"
The mysterious man smiled and said, "You have no other choice. Either cooperate with me or be trapped in this forest forever."
Lin Xiao thought for a moment and finally nodded, "Okay, I promise you, but you have to promise not to hurt me."
The mysterious man stepped aside and let Lin Xiao walk into the temple. There was an old atmosphere in the air and the walls were covered with strange portraits.
"What are these?" Lin Xiao couldn't help but ask.
The mysterious man did not answer, but took her into a secret room.
