Chapter 267: The Legend of the Siren

The boat heading to Shenglian Island was not a very large cruise ship. Everyone sat on chairs on the deck, looking at the sea view or chatting.

Youya looked at the tourist brochure handed out by the tour guide. It contained some information about Holy Lotus Island and seemed quite tempting.

However, Shiratori Renzaburo is more familiar with the true situation of Shenglian Island.

According to him, the island was once a well-known fishing resort among anglers. A large developer once developed a resort there. Unfortunately, due to the economic bubble, the developer withdrew from the development of the resort.

Since then, no buyer has been found for that area.

There is only one resident left on the island, who runs a small hotel and makes a living by entertaining tourists who come to the island to fish.

"Is that so? That's such a pity." Youye sighed. Although what he caught was a little strange, it did not affect his enthusiasm for fishing.

Just as Youye was sighing, suddenly a strange chirping sound came from afar. Youye looked up and found that the sound came from all directions, and he couldn't tell the specific direction.

"What's that sound?" Han Ye Meihuo asked the woman who got off the van with some fear.

The woman sitting at the bow was looking down at her notebook. When she heard Han Ye Meihuo's question, she raised her head and said, "It's Siren."

"Siren?" Han Ye Meihuo looked at the woman in confusion, "So, you are..."

The woman smiled and said, "My name is Nanami Ishida, and I'm a reporter."

"Then, what is the Siren you are talking about?" Han Ye Meihuo asked curiously.

Ishida Nanami held up her notebook, and everyone looked over curiously and found a picture on it.

"In Greek mythology, it is a sea monster with a human upper body and a fish lower body. They use their beautiful singing to lure passing ships, and once the people on the ships are bewitched, they drag them into the sea and eat them!"

Everyone looked at each other in bewilderment after hearing this, and even Han Ye Meihuo was not as scared as she was at the beginning.

It feels like a bit of a clichéd story.

Soon, the ship docked.

As they headed towards their destination hotel, they listened to Nanami Ishida telling the legend of the island.

This island was once called Jicheng Island, but it was occupied by troops from other countries during the war.

I heard that the soldiers on the island at that time became nervous and weak because of fear of the horrible sound. Many of them wanted to escape from the island, but ended up drowning in the sea.

The soldiers called the island Siren Island, but they were afraid that giving it such a direct name would anger the siren, so they changed it to the homophonic Holy Lotus Island.

"Although there is such a legend, why such a sound is made is still an unsolved mystery." Nanami Ishida said finally.

"Hey, you know it very clearly!" Youye couldn't help but say.

Ishida Nanami smiled and said, "Because I am a reporter, I came to this island to uncover the secret of the Sirens, so that I can write a big news article!" As she spoke, she waved her hand and drew a big circle.

Yuya nodded thoughtfully.

Shiratori Renzaburo smiled and asked, "Brother Kamiya, what do you think?"

Youye shook his head: "I don't know. This is the first time I've heard of this legend. But from a scientific point of view, there may be a cave-like place on the island. As the tide rises and falls, the air inside is squeezed and makes a sound. The direction of the seawater flow is not exactly the same, which causes the sound to be different.

This would make the sound from a distance resemble the singing of a siren."

Shiratori Renzaburo nodded in realization: "I see."

Ishida Nanami looked at Yuya in surprise: "You look young, but you know a lot!"

Yuya smiled faintly: "It's okay, I saw it in a book by chance."

Ishida Nanami sighed: "If this is true, then the siren's song is a bit boring. It's impossible to write any big news about it!"

Youye shrugged his shoulders: "It's impossible that sirens really exist. Besides, it doesn't make sense for the sirens in Greek mythology to appear here. You have to believe in science!"

After hearing this, Nanami Ishida was immediately disappointed. She pursed her lips, looked down at her notebook, and stopped talking.

"In fact, the Siren still lives on this island!" Suddenly, a woman's voice sounded.

The people who were talking looked up and realized that they had arrived at a hotel. Standing at the door was an aunt in traditional kimono.

"I am the owner of the hotel, Wu Sheng," Wu Sheng smiled slightly, but that smile was a little mysterious, "In the next few days, I will be responsible for your food and daily life. Please come in."

As he spoke, he bent down slightly and motioned for everyone to enter the hotel.

As soon as Yuya entered the hotel, he saw an unexpected person.

"Mr. Amuro?" Yuya shouted in surprise.

The man with short blond hair and tan skin also looked over in surprise: "Mr. Kamiya..."

How could he be here? Was my identity exposed? On the surface, Amuro Toru was surprised to meet someone he knew, but he was a little nervous inside.

That night, he personally experienced the script led by Yuya Kamiya and almost got himself into trouble.

You have to be careful with this person.

Yuya was thinking: Shiho said that this Amuro Toru was a member of the organization, could it be that Vermouth has not given up and arranged for him to get information? But is it so blatant?

Shiratori Renzaburo looked at the two of them and asked curiously, "Do you know each other?"

Yuya nodded, "Yeah, Mr. Amuro has a lot of jobs, and I've encountered him a few times."

This man works everywhere, he is simply a working emperor! But even though he works so hard, the situation at home still hasn't improved?

Well, the money earned from working is still a drop in the bucket. I guess he is lacking a lot of money, right?

Amuro Toru smiled slightly.

Yuya added, "Isn't Mr. Amuro working here?"

Kirio came over and helped explain with a smile: "Because there are quite a lot of passengers this time, I was worried that the hotel would not have enough supplies, so I specially purchased some. Mr. Amuro is here to deliver the goods."

Amuro Toru smiled and pointed to a pile of food and supplies in the corner, which looked like they had just been stacked.

"I see." Youya showed a surprised expression, it turned out to be a coincidence.

However, it's a bit too coincidental...

Amuro Toru smiled and said to Kirio, "The things have been delivered. I will go back and report to the boss." Then he took out a notebook and handed it over.

Wu Sheng took the book and signed the receipt, then said, "Thank you for your hard work."

Amuro Toru smiled and was about to leave when he was stopped by Yuya.

Yuya whispered, "Mr. Amuro, if you are really that short of money, I suggest you find a job with a higher salary and more stability. You won't make any money by working part-time like this."

Amuro Toru was a little dumbfounded. He suddenly remembered that in the eyes of this detective, he seemed to be a part-time worker working part-time because of family difficulties?

He was somewhat touched and somewhat amused.

"Thank you, I'll consider it." Toru Amuro forced a smile and left.

Yuya looked at Amuro Toru's back as he left, thoughtfully.

"What's wrong?" Miyano Shiho quietly poked Yuya's arm.

Yuya glanced at Miyano Shiho and found that she didn't look scared. He couldn't help but ask: "Didn't you say...he has the aura of an organization?"

Miyano Shiho nodded, revealing a slightly confused expression: "I did feel it at the time... but there was nothing just now, it's very strange, could it be that there were other people present at the time, and I didn't feel him?"

Yuya touched his chin. He didn't have any good opportunity to test Miss Shiho's sensing ability.

But one thing is certain, this induction does not seem to be able to be pinpointed to a specific person.

The simplest example is that in the original animation, Haibara Ai mistook Judy for a member of the organization because Judy and Vermouth were present at the same time.

Is it really a coincidence? Is Toru Amuro not actually a member of the organization?

Just a poor worker?
