Chapter 222: Hailan Village Disaster

Hailan Village.

At dusk in Hailan Village, the golden sunlight shines on the calm sea, sparkling as if countless diamonds are jumping on the water.

The little boy sat in the shallow water, the sea water gently lapping at his feet, his eyes fixed on the horizon, as if waiting for something. His little hands occasionally fiddled with the sea water, stirring up small splashes of water, entertaining himself.

When the setting sun shone on the sea, a fishing boat appeared on the horizon. As the waves slowly approached, the little boy's eyes lit up immediately. He stood up excitedly, waved his hands, and called out loudly: "Grandpa, Grandpa!"

Grandpa's figure was clearly visible on the old boat. He was steering the boat and responded with a kind smile on his face:

"Le Le, don't come over here, Grandpa will be ashore soon!"

The little boy had no choice but to retract his feet that were about to step into the deep water and stand still obediently.

Suddenly he noticed that there seemed to be something behind his grandfather. His eyes widened and he shouted excitedly: "Grandpa, what is that?"

Grandpa was a little confused. "What?"

Before grandpa had time to turn around, a cold light suddenly flashed. His figure shook violently, blood gushed out, and then he slowly fell down.

The little boy's smile froze on his face, his brain went blank in an instant, and he even forgot to breathe.

Only then did he see clearly that the person following behind his grandfather was his uncle in military uniform... Why?!

"grandfather!"

The little boy's heart-wrenching cry suddenly rang out on the shore.

After hearing the little boy's voice, the other fishermen saw that the old man who was originally standing on the boat had disappeared, and the sea water beside the boat had turned red.

The little boy didn't care that there was deep water ahead where his grandfather had warned him not to go into the water, and he ran desperately towards the boat.

The man who had just put away the fishing net suddenly narrowed his eyes when he saw the direction Lele was running. More and more "soldiers" jumped out of the sea, holding sharp weapons in their hands and walking towards the shore.

"LeLe! Don't go!"

The man's body reacted faster than his brain. He immediately dropped the fishing net in his hand and ran towards Lele.

"grandfather!"

Lele was already in tears, and cried out as if grasping at a life-saving straw: "Uncle... my grandpa fell into the sea... please save my grandpa!"

The man's scalp tingled as he watched more and more "soldiers" appear. He immediately picked up Lele and carried him horizontally toward the shore, shouting:

"Everyone run! There is danger! Evacuate immediately!"

But the man's voice was quickly washed away by the sound of the waves and no one could hear it clearly.

"Why are there soldiers here? They are all wet. Do they need our help?" The middle-aged woman asked with concern as she looked at the "soldiers" coming over.

"Could they have been ambushed and forced to dive into the sea? We didn't even find them for so long... These children are really suffering..." Another old man stepped forward with guilt.

"Thank you for your hard work, kids..."

The unfinished words were instantly stuck in his throat, and he felt a warm liquid flowing out. The old man looked at the "soldier" in front of him who had pulled out the murder weapon from his body in disbelief, his eyes filled with astonishment and despair.

She couldn't understand why these people wanted to attack her, and she couldn't understand why these people wearing military uniforms that represented justice and protection could do such a cruel thing. She tried to question them, but could only make a faint whimper.

Immediately afterwards, the old woman fell straight forward, lost her balance, and finally fell into the cold sea. Her figure gradually disappeared in the waves.

"Auntie!" The young men who came over after hearing the noise saw what was happening before their eyes, and their hearts were filled with endless grief and anger. They didn't care about arguing with those "soldiers" and just wanted to help the old lady up quickly, but when they tried to get close, they were ruthlessly attacked.

The death of grandpa and aunt was like a domino effect, and the entire sea surface fell into chaos in an instant. The "soldiers" in military uniforms waved their weapons expressionlessly and slaughtered every fisherman mercilessly. They seemed to have no clear target, but the fishing village seemed to be their only target.

Screams, cries, and the sound of metal colliding intertwined, breaking the original tranquility of the small fishing village. Blood dyed the sea red, and the afterglow of the sunset became dim, as if the whole world was immersed in pain and fear.

"Murder... The officer killed someone... Help!"

"I'm going to call the police... they're killing people!"

"It's useless to call the police. Don't you see they are wearing military uniforms? It's useless..." the old man shouted in despair.

The little boy was frightened by this sudden change. He trembled and hugged his uncle's arm tightly, saying in a trembling voice: "Uncle... why did the officer want to kill us..."

Although the man believed that the officers would not harm civilians, the facts were before him: his fellow villagers died at their hands.

He didn't dare to look back. Right now, he could only let Lele survive. He didn't dare to think about anything else.

After running for a distance, the man let Lele go after confirming that the monsters would not catch up with him in a short time.

Lele's eyes were red and he looked at his uncle with confusion.

The man suppressed his anger, bent down, held Lele's face with both hands and made him look at him.

"LeLe... remember every word I say next."

Although Lele didn't understand what his uncle was going to do, he suddenly had an ominous premonition in his heart and shook his head desperately.

"No...Uncle, I don't want it!"

"Le Le..." The man took a deep breath and continued, "Do you want to see grandpa?"

Lele held back her tears and nodded.

"Grandpa just fell asleep, I'll go and bring him back..."

"Don't look back. Keep running forward and hide in a place where no one can find you. If you see someone in military uniform, don't make a sound and don't let them find you. Got it?"

Lele: "Where are you going, uncle?"

"Grandpa wants you to be a good and obedient child, right?"

Lele nodded again.

The man touched Lele's cheek reluctantly and said, "Do as I say and don't ask any more questions."

Before Lele could react, a pair of strong arms hugged him tightly, and a teardrop fell on Lele's shoulder. Soon the man let go of him and pushed Lele hard to let him run forward.

"LeLe, don't look back, run!"

Lele's vision was blurred and he couldn't see the road ahead clearly. He wiped his face hard with his arm, not daring to stop and kept running forward.

The man was relieved when he saw Lele running away. He picked up the sea cucumber hook on the shore, held the barbed hook in his hand and walked back.

He couldn't just watch those monsters slaughter the villagers, so he saved as many as he could.

"You are a bunch of beasts... What have we done wrong... What a sin!" An old lady fell to the ground and screamed in pain as she could not run away.

The man rushed over immediately after hearing the voice and said, "Auntie, aren't you afraid that I will take you away?"

As soon as he finished speaking, his position was discovered by the program soldiers. The man immediately took the lead to stand next to the old lady and rushed forward waving the sea cucumber hook in his hand.

The barbed hook hit the "soldier's" body with a metallic collision sound.

The man's eyes widened in disbelief. "They are not soldiers... they are..."

Before he could finish his words, his throat tightened and blood gushed out, all splashing onto the old lady's face.

"Bang!" With a dull sound, the head fell to the ground.

"Ah..." A shrill scream suddenly echoed on the sea, full of despair.
