Chapter 135 Memory

When Snape walked into the headmaster's office, Dumbledore was leaning over with his head buried in the Pensieve.

He placed what he was holding on the table in the principal's office and turned to leave.

"Severus Snape."

Dumbledore's gentle voice sounded behind him.

Snape turned around expressionlessly and saw Dumbledore looking at him with a kind and gentle expression.

"I think I remembered your name correctly." Dumbledore said with a smile.

"You have a good memory, so I'll call you that." Snape said calmly.

"I remember that you had a good relationship with Gardenia. There is a memory belonging to her in the Pensieve. Do you want to take a look?"

Dumbledore extended an invitation to Snape, winked at him slyly and said, "But Gardenia has placed a ban on it. People who are not invited by her probably cannot view this memory."

Snape was about to leave, but when he heard about Jiang Li, he stopped.

He walked towards the Pensieve.

"Just bury your head in the Pensieve and you can see her memories." Dumbledore said with a smile.

He didn't think Snape could see Jiang Li's memory.

Looking at the memories flowing slowly like mist in the basin, Snape hesitated for two seconds and buried his head in it.

Many memories that do not belong to me emerge in my mind.

This is a very poor village. Snape's first reaction was that this place was somewhat similar to the "Second World" created by Jiang Li.

A flock of crows landed on a wheat field that had been harvested several times.

A skinny little girl who looked only four or five years old sneaked into the rice field and looked around.

When she found that there was no one around, the little girl immediately squatted down, picked out the wheat ears that had fallen on the ground and were stuck in the mud and could not be picked up, and hurriedly stuffed them into her mouth.

The little girl's mouth was covered with mud, and she was reluctant to spit it out. She almost choked and rolled her eyes.

Suddenly, a stone hit her on the head.

Three naughty boys jumped out from the other side of the ridge.

"I was wondering why my wheat crop is so scarce this year. It turns out you are the jinx that comes to steal the wheat from my field every day. I'll beat you to death."

"Everyone, beat her to death."

The boy held stones in his hand and kept throwing them at the little girl.

The little girl covered her face with her hands, her forehead was scratched by the stone.

She also kept explaining to everyone: "I didn't steal your wheat. I just came here to pick it up because I saw you didn't want it anymore."

"Bah! Everything in this field belongs to us. Even if it's rotting in the field, you have no right to pick it up, you thief! You're the one who brought disaster to my parents. Get away from me and stop dirtying my field!"

Stones rained down on the little girl.

"Erhu, what are you doing!"

A woman with a towel on her head ran over to stop them.

When the three boys saw adults coming, they ran away in a swarm.

The woman hurried to check on the little girl and felt distressed when she saw that she was covered in wounds.

"How could you be so harsh, you damn bastard?"

She used a handkerchief to stop the little girl's bleeding, and couldn't help cursing the three little boys who had just thrown stones.

"Aunt Chunhua, I really didn't mean to steal anything. I thought these wheat ears in the field were what they didn't want, so I ran over to pick them up."

The little girl explained in a weak voice, afraid that the woman would think she was a bad child.

Aunt Chunhua couldn't help but wipe her eyes when she heard this, and hugged the little girl and said distressedly: "I know that Ali is a good child and would not do such a thing."

Hearing this, a smile appeared on the little girl's haggard face.

"You must be hungry. Come to my house for dinner. I've made a lot of delicious food today." Aunt Chunhua said enthusiastically.

There was some hesitation on the little girl's face, but the woman was already pulling her hand and walking towards home.

When she reached the door of her house, the little girl stopped.

Aunt Chunhua looked at her in confusion and asked, "Why don't you come in?"

The little girl said timidly, "They say I am a jinx and will definitely bring misfortune when I enter the house. I'd better just stand at the door."

"Don't listen to their nonsense." The woman forcefully pulled the little girl into the house, stuffed a cake into her hand, and said in a loud voice, "They just have nothing to do after eating all day, and they gossip about others all day long. You are not a jinx, you are a lucky star."

"But I killed my parents."

The little girl lowered her head, not daring to look directly at others. Her clothes were tattered, and she looked even more miserable than the beggars who made a living in the city.

"My grandparents said I would kill them if I stayed at home, and told me to go somewhere else to make a living."

"Bullshit, what happened to your parents was just an accident."

Aunt Cuihua squatted down, wiped the dust off the little girl's face, and said sternly: "Your grandparents are both old people with no conscience. They don't want to raise you, but they don't want to be scolded by others, so they said those things."

"really?"

Gradually, light appeared in the little girl's numb eyes.

"Of course it's true. From now on, you should live in my house and don't run around anymore, or you will be caught by human traffickers. I can support you." The woman said gently.

Hearing this, the little girl nodded heavily.

She took a bite of the pancake in her hand and tears started to flow.

She will have a home now and won't have to wander around anymore.

The little girl helped the woman with housework. Although the villagers gossiped about her, the little girl still lived a happy life.

She picked raspberries from the mountain and ran back home, wanting to give some to Aunt Chunhua to taste.

As soon as I ran to the village gate, I saw that the houses in the village were burned.

The bamboo basket fell from her hands, and the raspberries inside scattered all over the ground. The little girl ran frantically towards Aunt Chunhua's house.

The moment the little girl saw Aunt Chunhua running out with the baby in her arms, safe and sound, she felt very happy and was about to shout in Aunt Chunhua's direction.

A sickle pierced her chest.

Before the smile on the little girl's face could fade away, she saw this horrifying scene.

A monster covered in black air, with an ugly face and pointed fangs appeared beside Aunt Chunhua. It grabbed Xiaobao, stuffed it into its mouth, and started chewing, with blood foam all over its mouth.

Aunt Chunhua collapsed watching this scene, and then she was also eaten by the monster.

The little girl ran out in a panic. Everyone in the village had been eaten. The monsters seemed to be looking for someone. They looked around on the rooftops and would eat the people after making sure it was not them.

The collapsed pillar hit the little girl, fire burned her hair, and a monster covered in black energy was approaching her.

In a trance, the little girl seemed to see some picture, and a tear rolled down from the corner of her eye.

"I am indeed a jinx."

The little girl seemed to have lost all her strength and was quietly waiting for death.
