Chapter 68 Give Me a Bone
Assistant Xu ignored the figure, but the mottled figure's dark eyes, like the abyss of hell, were locked on his back. Perhaps it was his own intuition, Assistant Xu trembled all over, looked back, and scanned the corridor nervously, but he was a step too late, and the figure had disappeared in the darkness.
Regardless of the urge to turn around and spend the night in the hotel room, Assistant Xu took off his suit jacket, rolled up his sleeves, revealing his jade-like arms, and prepared to cook dinner. What is a man's happiness? It is a home-cooked meal after a day of work. Although no one cooks for him now, Assistant Xu knows that one day he will have a beautiful wife who cooks for him.
Oh, if only he could come home to a wife with a home-cooked meal waiting for him.
While daydreaming, he was chopping green onions on the chopping board, his hands moving constantly, and just as he was chopping the last flower bud, strange and eerie music sounded behind him.
Assistant Xu paused, put down the knife, and walked towards the room where the music came from. The door of the room was closed and the lights were off. When he pushed open the door, he was surprised to find that the French window on the balcony was open, and the wind chimes jingled with the wind blowing in from the open window.
He frowned as he strode into the bedroom and closed the window. Did he forget to lock the door today? But how could that be possible? He was always careful and had never made such a forgetful mistake, so how could this happen?
When he closed the window, the strange tune stopped, and his eyes fell on the wind chime that was still tinkling. When he received the wind chime sent by his sister, he had a strange feeling in his heart, thinking it was very beautiful and light, although the tune it played was very nice, so he kept it for so long.
But as time went on, the tunes played by the wind chimes began to change over time, becoming more and more sad and melancholy. Sometimes they even played strange tunes that made him feel heartbroken, as if he was longing for something but couldn't get it.
Many times he wanted to pull the wind chime down but couldn't bring himself to do it, and he didn't know how to explain it. It was strange, and he knew that whatever he was thinking was nonsense, but it was the only way he could explain it to anyone else. Every time he raised his hand to take the wind chime off the nail it was hanging on, he had a sudden feeling of loss, like he had lost something very important.
He would give up the idea, just like now. He wanted to pull the wind chime down, but he couldn't do it. Thinking that it would be the same in the future, it would be a great loss to leave this beautiful wind chime in the cabinet, and he once again gave up the idea of taking it away. Turn off the wind chime.
He turned his back to the pearly white wind chimes, walked out of the room and closed the door.
As soon as the door of the room was closed, the window that was originally closed was slowly opened until only an inch was left.
Dinner that night was a busy affair for Assistant Xu. He had a constant feeling that he was being watched from behind, but at the same time, when he looked back, there was nothing behind him. But his intuition told him that there was something behind him.
All night long, Assistant Xu kept looking over his shoulder. It was like he was waiting for something to jump out at him, but nothing happened, and at one point he was like "If you want to kill me!" Waiting is worse than being killed immediately.
Finally, while watching the news, he slammed the remote control on the recliner and turned off the TV. He walked out into the hallway and thought, maybe he should just go to bed. There was no point in thinking about it anymore. If he continued like this, he might go crazy.
He changed into pajamas, covered himself in bed and fell asleep. It would be better to sleep first and wait for something to happen. Maybe he was just paranoid because of what Song Yan said to him.
Lying in bed, he silently thought about what he had done. He didn't expect that he would spend the whole night thinking about this and that, just because of a few meaningless words. No wonder everyone says superstition is bad.
Thinking of this, he closed his eyes due to the fatigue on his shoulders. Assistant Xu probably only closed his eyes for a few minutes, but suddenly his consciousness returned, and he felt something big and hard pressing on his chest.
His airway began to become blocked, and he began to suffocate, as if something was choking his throat. Assistant Xu opened his eyes suddenly, and the scene he saw made the hair on his body stand up.
As he tried to yell for help, his mouth opened wide and a silent scream came out - the chest was a woman. Or rather, she had been a woman before she died and became what she was now, wearing a white dress with dried blood staining the seams and front. Her eyes were empty and haunting, as if they were eating away at his soul, and most haunting of all, her body was missing a lot of bones!
It was as if she had died when her bones were pulled out. Assistant Xu waved his hands, or rather, he tried his best to move his hands, but no matter what, he couldn't even lift a finger, let alone both hands. It was as if something invisible bound him and made him unable to move.
“Give me back my bones!” The woman whispered, she didn’t shout, nor scream. She just whispered in a deadly voice, which was enough to make Assistant Xu’s blood run cold.
Bones? Where would he get human bones now?
He was a capable assistant, and whenever his boss was troubled by some problem, he would try his best to come up with a reasonable solution, and he had never failed before, but now, his whole being was in a state where he couldn't even think, let alone come up with a solution to get out of the situation.
“Give me back my bones!” repeated the ghostly figure of the woman, and then she raised her hands and threw herself at his throat. Assistant Xu closed his eyes and prepared for a painful death, now he understood where this ghost woman was going to get her lost bones.
She was going to take it out of his body!
However, just as Assistant Xu was about to die, a flash of golden light appeared, followed by the ghost girl's painful scream. He opened his eyes, hurriedly opened his eyes, and looked at the ghost girl with burning hands. He blinked, trying to come up with a reasonable explanation to explain why this happened, but then he remembered something and his eyes fell on the yellow talisman tied around his neck.
The bright yellow paper was no longer so bright now, and half of it was burnt. He finally understood why the Second Madam gave him this talisman. She knew something like this would happen. When he realized that the key to his life was in the talisman around his neck, he immediately grabbed it in his hand and ran away.
Behind him, the ghost girl's angry roar was heard. It was obvious that she was upset because her prey had escaped from her grasp.
When he was only wearing pajamas and no shoes on his feet, he couldn't help but wonder why the ghost woman came to him? The house was newly built and he didn't bring anything strange into his house. Why would the woman do anything in his house?
The bedroom window behind him was opened again, and the originally silent wind chimes began to sound eerily again.
