Chapter 4: Market and New Village

"Zifeng, today I heard from Lao San and the others that your fever has gone down and your soul-separation syndrome is completely cured. Uncle didn't quite believe it and thought you would never come back after entering the mountains. Thank God for your help." Yang Tiezhu said excitedly, and everyone could feel the concern in his expression.

"Well, uncle, I've asked you to take care of us brothers and sisters before. From now on, you will be our uncle." Liang Zifeng said with gratitude.

"Yes, Uncle Yang, you will be my brother and I's uncle from now on." The third brother said solemnly.

The fourth child and the youngest sister were still young and didn’t quite understand what was going on. They just stared blankly.

"Hey, you are all good kids. If you can survive safely, I will have done my best for Brother Liang." Yang Tiezhu said with tears in his eyes.

When Yang Tiezhu was leaving, Liang Zifeng took out a semi-finished smoked rabbit meat from the pot and asked him to take it back to eat. After a while of refusing, Yang Tiezhu finally accepted it with mixed feelings.

In the next ten days, Liang Zifeng went up the mountain every day, so there was a lot of smoked rabbit meat and a lot of herbs drying in the sun at home.

Liang Zifeng also became completely famous in this unknown little mountain village. Everyone knew that the previously stupid second son of the Liang family had suddenly become better.

Now the second son of the Liang family is not only a good hunter, but also knows medicine. Yang Tiezhu's wife was nursed back to health by the second son, and now she can walk around.

In more than ten days, there were not many changes in Liang Zifeng's house. The leaks were only repaired. The biggest change was in the health of the brothers and sisters.

The four siblings who originally looked like four skeletons are still very thin now, but they have gained some flesh and no longer look like skeletons wrapped in human skin. Especially the youngest sister, she looks almost like a normal child and her tongue is not so serious anymore.

Liang Zifeng also asked people in the county town to inquire about his elder brother who had not been heard from for a long time. Unfortunately, there was no news at all, but there was also some news at the same time.

People who went to the county town found out that the eldest brother of the four siblings used to work as a handyman in a martial arts school and even had a name. It was not known whether he had a telepathic connection with Liang Zifeng, but the eldest brother's new name was Liang Ziyan.

Another piece of news is that their eldest brother got lost while on a mission and is currently unknown whether he is alive or dead, but no body has been found.

……

It was the morning of the eighth day of May. Today was the market day at Majiaji, so Liang Zifeng and his siblings got up early.

Majia Market is held on the eighth, eighteenth and twenty-eighth day of every month.

In this nameless mountain village, every market day, everyone would gather together and go to the market together. When Liang Zifeng and his sister arrived at the gathering place, they attracted the attention of the villagers.

The topic of conversation in the mountain village recently is basically Liang Zifeng. In addition to Liang Zifeng becoming normal, the most important thing is that he can treat illnesses. There are several people in the village who have been bedridden for years. After Liang Zifeng examined them and personally picked herbs for them, the patients' families went to pick herbs afterwards. The day before yesterday, the two patients were able to get out of bed and move around.

"Zifeng is here? Are you four siblings going to the market?"

"Zifeng is really amazing. Look how well he takes care of his younger brothers and sisters."

"Yes, after all, Zifeng is a very good doctor. My wife's illness was cured by Zifeng. Zifeng, if you have any problems in the future, come to your uncle."

In fact, many people spread rumors about Liang Zifeng's sudden change for the better and his sudden ability to do so many things. But when Liang Zifeng took action to improve Yang Tiezhu's wife's health, these rumors disappeared instantly, and everyone was as enthusiastic about Liang Zifeng as they could be.

Almost all the villagers would take the initiative to greet Liang Zifeng. After all, it was rare to have someone who knew medicine and was willing to treat them in such a remote mountain village. It was because there were no other villages within a radius of 10 miles around this small mountain village, otherwise it would have been famous long ago.

Liang Zifeng responded politely one by one, and his brothers and sisters around him were full of admiration and pride. This time at the market, Liang Zifeng planned to sell some of the precious medicinal herbs he had collected, and then buy some necessary things.

Soon, the large group started to set off. This time, there were twenty-six people going to the market together. After all, they lived deep in the mountains. If there were not enough people, it would be very dangerous to leave the mountain village. Not to mention the wild beasts, they might even be robbed by bandits.

It has been almost twenty days since Liang Zifeng recovered his memory, and he has gained a preliminary understanding of this world. This is a dynasty he has never heard of, called the Daxing Dynasty. It is currently in its final years, and the world outside is in chaos.

In order to avoid wars and various man-made disasters, many people took their families and hid in the deep mountains and forests. They would rather face ferocious beasts than be under the rule of troubled times, and that is how their nameless mountain village came into being.

……

When the team left the village and walked about four or five miles away, they encountered a special situation.

"Huh? Why is there someone here?"

The leading villager looked at the six thatched houses on a hillside with some curiosity.

"This is all newly built. There are people there. They came over."

Liang Zifeng was in the middle of the team. He found that the people approaching them were also pale and thin, with their clothes full of patches. They looked like farmers. There were only six thatched huts, but there were more than 40 people. It was estimated that some of them had not come out yet, because no children were seen.

"Who are you?" asked an old man who looked prestigious among the 40 or so people who came to the front of the market.

The leading villager saw that the other party had a large number of people and did not look like bad people, so he hesitated for a moment and said, "We are from a village behind. We are going to the market. We often walk this road. We have never seen you before. Are you planning to build a village here?"

"Oh? Your village is farther away than here? How far is it?"

The old man looked at the team leader with some surprise, then glanced at the other people in the team. He felt that they were all similar to them, so he believed it a little. He thought they had walked far enough, but he didn't expect that some people had walked even further.

"Just follow this road for another four or five miles and you'll reach our village."

After some communication, I learned that these people had only been here for more than ten days. Like the older generation in their village, they were all hiding from the chaotic world. The last time they went to market, it happened to rain, so no one went to market, and they didn't notice that someone had built a new village here.

Not long after, the team of 26 people grew again, and the new village was temporarily called Liujia Village because most of them had the surname Liu and were considered members of the same clan.
