Chapter 3: Photographic memory and mastery

A slap landed on Cheng Ye's face, and his face turned visibly red.

Mother Cheng's right hand froze in mid-air. She was stunned and couldn't help but feel a little worried, "Xiao, Xiaoye, I thought you would hide. Mom didn't mean it..."

Cheng Ye looked at Cheng's mother calmly, "Ms. Xu, please sign it."

Mother Cheng originally felt guilty for beating him, but after hearing what Cheng Ye said, she yelled, "Xiao Ye, when will you be able to listen to me? You feel that I was absent from your life for fifteen years, and you are resentful of me, right?!"

Cheng Ye's eyes were calm, and he emphasized again, "Sign it."

Mother Cheng gritted her teeth, snatched the pen and the agreement from Father Cheng's hands, signed her name irritably, and then threw it to Father Cheng who was full of anger.

She didn't believe that Cheng Ye could live alone after leaving the Cheng family. Maybe after a while, he would take the initiative to surrender to her.

Seeing Mother Cheng sign, Cheng Ye inexplicably relaxed. He turned his gaze to Father Cheng, "Mr. Cheng, it's your turn."

Father Cheng was furious. "You did something wrong. We taught you a lesson, but you still don't accept it, right?! Cheng Ye, you'd better think it through. Without the Cheng family, you are nothing!"

He raised his hand to slap Cheng Ye, but Cheng Ye grabbed his arm and pushed him away coldly.

Cheng Ye was too lazy to talk nonsense, "Sign."

Hearing this, Father Cheng was furious, his body shaking with anger, "You like to show off just to piss us off, right?! If you leave the Cheng family, your life will be difficult! Don't blame me for not reminding you!"

Father Cheng's chest heaved with anger. Cheng Ye must be trying to scare him. Thinking of this, he decisively signed his name.

Seeing Cheng Ye's cold expression, the eldest sister Cheng Wei laughed at him and said, "Cheng Ye, do you think you can come and go as you please in the Cheng family? Do you really think we care about you and will beg you to come back? You are too whimsical!!"

The second sister Cheng Zhirou agreed, "Sister, he is just threatening us and showing off his insignificant presence."

"Mom and Dad, don't be angry with him! It's not worth it at all!" The third sister Cheng Shiyan also came to her senses at this time. Cheng Ye had tried so hard to curry favor with them in the past, so how could he leave the Cheng family so easily?

Cheng Shiyan said with a smile, "The Cheng family's businesses are all over the country. Don't ask us to help you find a job when you need one. It will really make us laugh."

When Mr. and Mrs. Cheng heard what their three daughters said, they were no longer so panicked.

Cheng Ye remained calm and took back one of the agreements from Cheng's father, leaving the remaining two in his father's hands.

Under everyone's astonished gaze, Cheng Ye turned and walked into the living room of the Cheng family villa. They immediately started talking.

Not long after, Cheng Ye appeared at the door of the living room dragging a suitcase, and walked towards the gate of the yard with his eyes fixed.

Mother Cheng felt vaguely uneasy. She just raised her foot to stop Cheng Ye, but Cheng Fenghao suddenly grabbed the corner of her clothes and said, "Mom, my stomach hurts."

She immediately shifted her attention and hurriedly called the family doctor, "Besides the stomachache, do you feel any other discomfort? Let's take an X-ray later..."

The scene became chaotic again. Everyone paid attention to Cheng Fenghao's injuries and completely forgot about Cheng Ye who ran away from home.

-

It's August in Beijing, the sun is shining brightly and the weather is a bit hot and humid.

Cheng Ye sat in the back seat of a taxi. As the car drove into the alley, he lowered the window and looked at the dense trees and red bricks and green tiles receding behind him. From time to time, he could hear the hawking of street vendors, and the air was thick with the smell of fireworks.

He got off the car and first rented a house nearby. After settling his luggage, he went straight out and turned right into a small alley. He came to a small medical clinic with a strong sense of age. The breeze blew past, causing the windows to creak.

The old woman came out of the clinic, about seventy years old. When she saw Cheng Ye, she smiled kindly, her face filled with joy, and greeted him warmly, "Xiao Ye, I cooked your favorite celery beef dumplings, come in and eat them while they're hot."

Cheng Ye felt a sour feeling at the tip of his nose. The old man in front of him had no blood relationship with him. When he was a child, he lived in an orphanage and often sneaked out to play. By chance, through the half-open window, he saw a grandmother giving acupuncture to a patient in the clinic.

He found it novel and would come to see his grandmother every time giving those patients traditional Chinese medicine treatments such as cupping, acupuncture, and bone setting.

After a few visits, he and his grandmother became closer, and he also developed a strong interest in Chinese medicine culture.

Since entering high school, he has been determined to enter the best medical university.

However, ever since he was taken in by the Cheng family, all he could think about was how to integrate into the big family. He had no interest in studying and neglected his studies. Even after he was kicked out of the wealthy family and admitted to the hospital, his grandmother didn't contact him for several days and hurriedly went to find the director of the orphanage to find out what happened.

Knowing that he was in the hospital, grandma prepared a lot of delicious food and rushed to the hospital, but she was in a car accident and died on the spot.

This is the eternal pain of his previous life.

Later, the clinic closed down and he was forced to work in a factory to survive.

His grandmother died because of him, and he never had the courage to pursue his dream of becoming a doctor again.

The food and living conditions in the orphanage were very simple. When he first met his grandmother, he was thin and shorter than his peers.

His grandmother was afraid that he would be malnourished, so she cooked different kinds of food for him every day so that he would always be well fed when he came.

But the orphanage has its own rules, and he could not always sneak out successfully, so his grandmother would pack the food in an insulated box and deliver it to him personally.

My grandmother never married or had children in her life. She devoted all her time and energy to the cause of traditional Chinese medicine.

Knowing that he also liked Chinese medicine, his grandmother would teach him patiently and buy him Chinese medicine books.

"Xiaoye, don't just stand there, come and eat dumplings!" Song Ranqiu looked puzzled, "Did you have a fight with your family?"

"No, I get along well with them." Cheng Ye didn't want to make his grandmother worry about him, so he only reported good news and not bad news. He was pulled into the clinic by Song Ranqiu.

On the left is the front desk for dispensing medicines, and on the right are three clean beds for patient treatment, as well as a few small tables and stools scattered around.

Song Ranqiu pushed open the middle door and came to the backyard. After walking for a while, she came to the living room at the front door. On the dining table, steaming and fragrant dumplings were already placed.

"Eat it while it's hot. Grandma has to go out to see a doctor first." Song Ranqiu instructed, "Grandma will bring you some snacks."

Cheng Ye's throat choked, "Okay, grandma, please be careful."

After Song Ranqiu left, Cheng Ye finished eating dumplings and washed the dishes.

Senior year starts tomorrow, and after paying next month's rent and this semester's tuition, he has almost no money left except for some living expenses.

Before that, he needed to make money.

Cheng Ye opened the recruitment app on his phone, originally intending to find some part-time jobs, when he received a message from the class group of Senior 1 () from the head teacher, @all students:

[It's your last year in high school, so you should focus on your studies and don't slack off! There will be a physics competition this Sunday, and all students must sign up to participate. I've already signed you up. The top 20 students in our school's senior year will receive incentive bonuses of varying amounts, so prepare carefully.]

Also attached is a picture with detailed information about the physics competition, as well as an electronic document titled "Condensed Knowledge Points and Typical Examples of Physics Competitions".

Cheng Ye enlarged the picture. The first place in the physics competition received a prize of 2 yuan, and the twentieth place received a prize of 500 yuan.

If he could get first place, he would have some extra money and could buy some gifts for his grandmother.

Thinking of this, Cheng Ye opened an electronic document of more than 600 pages.

He casually glanced at the contents on the document, then slowly closed his eyes, and the content he had just read appeared very clearly in his mind.

He could remember everything without even thinking, just by glancing at it.

You can remember everything you see.

It was just that in his previous life, he wasted his time focusing on the Cheng family and had no interest in studying, thus wasting his memory talent.

There was less than a week left before the physics competition. Although time was short, he was good at integrating knowledge points and typical examples, which was enough to cope with the flexible and abnormal physics competition.

When he graduated from junior high school, he was admitted to the best Yahua High School in Beijing with the first place, and was in the same class with Cheng Fenghao and Chu Xiyan.

But later on, my grades plummeted.

Fortunately, there is enough time and the college entrance examination results are not yet decided, so everything is still in time!

Cheng Ye quickly flipped through all the contents of the electronic document, then he stood up and went outside the clinic to see if his grandmother had returned.

"Excuse me, is anyone there?" A sweet girl's voice, wrapped in a sultry temperature, came into the clinic.

Cheng Ye opened the inner door and saw a well-behaved girl standing outside the clinic. She had delicate features, very fair skin, and her beautiful collarbone was clearly visible under her slender neck. She looked both pure and sexy.

A strapless peach-colored floral dress paired with snow-white rhinestone sandals.

Two light blue butterfly headbands were tied into two ponytails and fell in front of the shoulders. The warm breeze made her long black hair flutter.

Cheng Ye's heart trembled. Isn't this the daughter of the factory director he worked for in his previous life? Why is she here?
