Chapter 39 The Landlord's Anger
The sky gradually became gloomy and dark, as if covered by a thick layer of dark clouds. The originally peaceful atmosphere was suddenly broken by a rapid and noisy knock on the door, and Gu Yannian, who was sleeping soundly on the floor, slowly opened his eyes.
The person standing outside the door was Gu Yannian's landlord, Xing Honglin. This afternoon, he received a complaint from other tenants, saying that the tenant of 404 was smashing the house like crazy, and the huge noise was deafening, so that the residents of the entire floor could hear it clearly.
Xing Honglin was in a foreign country at the time and was very confused after hearing the news, but he still called Gu Yannian immediately. However, Gu Yannian, who was drunk, was unaware of the series of calls and was still immersed in his dreams.
Xing Honglin, who was extremely anxious, stepped on the accelerator without hesitation and drove all the way. After three or four hours of driving, he finally got back here. As soon as he arrived downstairs, he couldn't wait to take the elevator upstairs and knocked hard on the door.
He knocked on the door and shouted Gu Yannian's name loudly, but after more than ten minutes, there was still no response from inside the house.
Just as Xing Honglin was about to use the spare key to open the door, Gu Yannian, still drunk, opened the door and shouted impatiently, "So annoying! Why are you knocking? Is your mother dead?"
When Xing Honglin heard this, he was immediately furious. He widened his eyes and shouted angrily: "Your mother is dead." Before he finished speaking, he pushed Gu Yannian away with force and rushed into the apartment like a gust of wind.
After entering the room, what came into view was a horrific scene. The floor was littered with broken objects and garbage, and the whole house seemed to have experienced a catastrophe.
Xing Honglin was so angry that he was shaking all over. He couldn't help but roared: "Ahhh, my house!"
Then, he raised his foot and fiercely kicked Gu Yannian, cursing viciously: "You bastard, you are quite courageous. You actually dared to smash my apartment. Do you want to die?"
Gu Yannian, who was kicked to the ground, was also very angry. He got up from the ground and retorted: "It's just some broken stuff, I'll compensate you."
"Stop pretending here. Do you really think your shabby house is a treasure?"
Xing Honglin was a burly man with a fierce look on his face, and he looked like a gangster. When he got angry, his face became even more ferocious and scary.
He glared at Gu Yannian and yelled, "You son of a bitch, let me tell you, these things of mine are very valuable. Without hundreds of thousands or even hundreds of thousands, you can't afford to pay for them!"
Gu Yannian was shocked when he heard the number. He said in astonishment, "One hundred or two hundred thousand? Isn't this obviously robbery?"
Xing Honglin's anger instantly rose when he heard this. He suddenly raised his foot and fiercely kicked Gu Yannian who had just stood up. With a dull "bang", Gu Yannian fell heavily to the ground again.
Xing Honglin's eyes widened with anger, and he cursed with gnashing teeth: "Asshole! If you don't pay me back, I will beat you to death today!"
Then, he rushed towards Gu Yannian like a madman, punching him like raindrops and kicking him non-stop. Poor Gu Yannian had no power to fight back, and could only curl up on the ground with his head in his hands, screaming in pain.
The miserable screams alarmed the neighbors, who all ran out to check what was going on. Seeing the scene before them, everyone was stunned, and someone hurriedly called the police.
Soon after, the police car arrived at the scene and took the two people who were fighting back to the police station. However, when the police officer in charge of the interrogation saw Gu Yannian, he couldn't help but frown and said unhappily: "Why are you here again? I've seen you three times this month! You little brat, are you itchy and uncomfortable if you don't make trouble all day long?"
Gu Yannian looked aggrieved. He pointed at his bruised body with trembling fingers and cried, "Officer, look at what I've been beaten into by that bastard! Do you think I'm causing trouble?"
"Humph! That bastard really deserves to be thrown into jail," Gu Yannian shouted indignantly.
The policeman rolled his eyes helplessly and retorted: "Stop making trouble here! Putting aside other things, why did you smash someone's house to pieces?"
"Those things are valuable property. They have already asked someone to estimate their price. Can they be settled without hundreds of thousands of dollars?" The police glared at Gu Yannian and continued.
Gu Yannian's face was filled with anger, his eyes widened as he shouted, "Hundreds of thousands? Go back and tell that bastard that I won't compensate him a single cent!"
He became more and more excited as he spoke, his voice unconsciously rising an octave: "Not only that, I'm going to ask him for the medical expenses!"
The policeman looked at Gu Yannian seriously and said, "My colleague has just questioned him. He said that if you don't compensate, he will file a complaint with the court. Then you can wait to receive the court summons."
When Gu Yannian heard this, he slumped in his chair like a deflated ball.
"No...how could he do this?" Gu Yannian murmured to himself, his eyes full of despair and helplessness.
Suddenly, as if he came to his senses, he stood up again, became extremely emotional, and shouted at the police: "Besides, is he not at fault? He beat me so badly, I am going to report him too!"
The policeman looked at the almost insane man in front of him, shook his head, and said calmly: "Okay, since you insist on doing this, then I have nothing to say."
"Then you will have to meet in court." After saying that, the police turned and left the room.
After coming out of the police station, Gu Yannian felt at a loss, not knowing what to do. Various ideas kept popping up in his mind, but none of them seemed to be able to solve the dilemma at hand.
Suddenly, he thought of Li Jinxi's parents, maybe they could help him, so he quickly took out his cell phone and prepared to call Li Zhong.
However, when he looked for it in his address book, he was surprised to find that he had never saved Li Zhong's number! This made Gu Yannian regretful. He never thought that Li Jinxi had not told her parents about his return to China.
In desperation, Gu Yannian had to continue rummaging through his wallet, hoping to find some cash to get through the difficult times.
But to his disappointment, there were only a few dozen or twenty yuan left in his wallet. These small changes were simply a drop in the bucket for him at the moment. Recalling the card with 500,000 yuan that Li Jinxi gave him when he returned to China, he had already squandered it all on buying those expensive brand-name clothes.
Now, all the belongings were still in the apartment, and he obviously couldn't go back to get them. Faced with such a desperate situation, Gu Yannian felt helpless.
But Gu Yan did not give up. After some thought, he decided to try his luck outside the Silan Group building.
