Chapter 18 Colleagues
"Good evening! It's a pleasure to serve you!"
Ye Zhenzhen pushed open the door of the box and bowed politely to greet them.
The lights in the box were flashing, the images of the MV were changing back and forth on the big screen, and "Three Inches of Sunlight" was playing on the speakers.
Wen Baijing was lazily leaning on the sofa, playing with his mobile phone casually.
Ye Zhenzhen folded her hands on her abdomen and asked with a smile:
"Is it still the same as before?"
Wen Baijing smiled faintly, lowered her eyelashes, and nodded gently.
Soon, Longjing, Chivas, and iced black tea were served. Ye Zhenzhen carefully mixed the wine and squatted down to pour it for him.
Wen Baijing put down his crossed legs and said gently, "Ye Zhenzhen, bring that little stool over here and talk to me."
She smiled knowingly and brought a small stool to sit down.
Picking up the wine glass, Wen Baijing looked at the amber-gold liquid, the crystal clear ice cubes and foreign wine swaying back and forth.
Attracted by the pair of fair and distinct hands, my eyes unconsciously followed Wen Baijing's hands.
Wen Baijing said calmly, "What are you thinking about?"
She suddenly came to her senses, "Nothing... nothing."
"I don't know why. I just want to hear you talk," he shook his head self-deprecatingly. "It's weird, right?" After that, he drank the wine in the glass.
Wen Baijing's throat rolled as he swallowed, perfect and wild, and Ye Zhenzhen's throat rolled along with it inexplicably.
She stood up from the small stool, walked to the table, squatted down, and poured wine into Wen Baijing's glass. "I'm not very good at speaking, so please bear with me if I'm offended."
Wen Baijing's eyes were cold. He glanced at her and turned his gaze to the bottle of foreign wine. "You only treat me as a guest, right? You don't treat me as a friend."
Friends? How dare she, a waitress, get close to him? Friends should be people of similar status, with common topics and hobbies. But they didn't have any!
She squatted beside Wen Baijing, folding her hands on her knees, "I am very grateful to you, really... You took me to the hospital and accompanied me to get the injection... You looked at me with pity and gave me 10,000... I don't know the other customers, so I can't compare you with others."
Wen Baijing picked up the wine glass and stared at it without blinking, "Ye Zhenzhen, if someone else did this for you, would you be tempted?"
Some hearts cannot be moved! Do something knowing it is impossible? Ye Zhenzhen's head is not strong enough, she is afraid of death! Wen Baijing is in a hundred-foot-high building, and she is in a thatched cottage.
Ye Zhenzhen closed her eyes, took a deep breath, and slowly opened her eyes, "I don't know, I only know that I am very grateful to you."
After Ye Zhenzhen finished speaking, she lowered her eyelids and squatted on the ground still maintaining her standard posture.
There were several dice cups on the marble bar. She stared at the dice cups, feeling a little disappointed. Life is like an unopened dice cup, and we don't know whether it will come out big or small.
"Why don't we make a bet?" Wen Baijing also looked at the dice cup, "Do you dare to bet with me?"
Ye Zhenzhen looked bewildered, her voice a little weak, "I'm not very good at this, and I don't have the money to gamble..."
Wen Baijing did not force him, and brought the wine glass to his lips, but hesitated to drink.
Ye Zhenzhen's legs began to cramp again, and a numbing electric current spread through the meridians of her legs. She slowly lowered her head, closed her eyes tightly, clenched her teeth, and dug her fingertips into the flesh of her thighs.
Wen Baijing took it all in, and quickly stood up, using his strong arms to lift her up.
With the help of his arm, Ye Zhenzhen managed to stand steadily. The cramp had not yet subsided and she was a little unsteady. Her body suddenly leaned forward and she stood straight in Wen Baijing's arms, bumping into his strong chest.
There was momentary tinnitus.
The light was dim, shining dimly on his handsome face. The music was lingering, lingering and drilling straight into his heart.
The two of them stood there with their toes touching, their warm and ambiguous breaths intertwined. My heart skipped a beat first, and then the beating of both hearts suddenly increased, shocking me as if I were falling into a cloud of fog.
They were like two braised prawns with their tentacles sticking out stiffly, neither of them knowing how to ease the awkwardness, and they just stayed there.
"Knock knock knock", there was a knock on the door.
Ye Zhenzhen stepped back hurriedly, her feet floating in the air, her heels tilted, "Ah!" She leaned back and subconsciously grabbed at something, but Wen Baijing was quick to grab her slender waist.
Her face turned red to her ears, as if she was facing the blazing charcoal fire in an iron stove, and her chest heaved like waves.
The other person's face was not too red, just a little bit of pale pink, like the petals of the withered peach blossoms. He looked at her with warm eyes, his throat rolling up and down.
Their eyes met, and the two broken wires touched each other, sparks flying all the way.
In an instant, everything around them fell silent. She and Wen Baijing stood in the dazzling beam of light, spinning non-stop, with flowers blooming beside them and a mirror-like blue sky above their heads.
A bright light shone in, blinding the people, and they both looked towards the door.
"Hey! I didn't disturb you, did I?" Li Ling stood at the door and looked at them, smiling awkwardly.
Wen Baijing let go of the hand that was around Ye Zhenzhen. She stood up and was about to walk towards the door. Wen Baijing followed her. She looked back at Wen Baijing in confusion, only to find that she was holding Wen Baijing's belt tightly.
Ye Zhenzhen was even more confused, and quickly let go of her hand, blushing and slurring her words:
"Excuse me…"
Li Ling glanced at the two of them and walked into the box with a flattering smile, "Hello! I'm Zhenzhen's friend, I came to see her." As she spoke, she walked to Ye Zhenzhen and took her arm intimately, "We have met before. Zhenzhen and I served you last time."
Wen Baijing sat back on the sofa and nodded slightly at Li Ling.
Li Ling let go of Ye Zhenzhen, came to the bar, picked up the empty glass and poured herself a glass of wine, squatted beside Wen Baijing, "I toast you a glass, I wish you a good time."
Wen Baijing glanced at Li Ling, then looked at Ye Zhenzhen who was standing there stupidly. He took the wine glass handed to him by Li Ling without changing his expression, clinked glasses with Li Ling symbolically, and put the wine glass to his lips without touching them.
Li Ling drank it all in one gulp. "Zhenzhen has just started working here and is not very knowledgeable. Please take care of her."
Wen Baijing put down his wine glass and replied calmly, "It should be."
Li Ling poured herself another glass of wine and said, "I wish you a pleasant evening. I'll go get busy now." After that, she drank another glass.
Wen Baijing remained calm and nodded reservedly.
Li Ling took a few steps back and dragged Ye Zhenzhen out. She was pulled out of the box with a confused look on her face. Li Ling said with a smile:
"I wrote my name on the consumption card. When the customer pays the bill, he will give me a tip. Don't tell him. He won't know. Even if he knows, he will feel embarrassed to not give it to you for your sake."
After Li Ling finished her instructions, she hummed a little tune and left. Ye Zhenzhen stood at the door, raising her hand to scratch her head, but was afraid of messing up her hair, so she didn't scratch it in the end, and just stamped her feet.
The young master stood opposite, with a mocking look on his face, "Li Ling is here to visit other rooms to get tips! She often takes advantage of others. Ye Zhenzhen, you better be careful."
Ye Zhenzhen shook her head helplessly and let out a long breath.
She pushed the door open angrily and walked into the box, lowered her head and walked to the computer, clicking the mouse at the hot song list.
"What's wrong?" Seeing that she looked like a watermelon vine hit by frost, Wen Baijing asked leisurely, "She's not your friend, right?"
Ye Zhenzhen pursed her lips and shook her head gently.
"You have to learn to say no and don't force yourself for irrelevant people."
Ye Zhenzhen came to Wen Baijing's side and picked up the kettle to refill the teacup with water. "Li Ling wants to write her name on the consumption card, so you will pay an extra four hundred..." Her voice was very soft and it was difficult for her to speak.
"She is sure that I have to tip her for my face. She is quite smart. I will indeed tip her for your sake." Wen Baijing stared at her and said seriously, "I pay this money for you. I am worried that you will offend someone unintentionally, but some people are so aggressive that they will want it again after doing it once. If you can't learn to say no, you will offend her sooner or later."
Ye Zhenzhen nodded thoughtfully, "Can you please not spend money on me? There are so many people here, and everyone is like this. Even if I sell myself it won't be enough."
Wen Baijing was amused. "You're dreaming!" A hint of pride flashed in his eyes. "Are you...saving money for me?"
Hearing this, she was stunned.
She opened her eyes wide and puffed up her plump cheeks, "I'm heartbroken..." Her brain quickly calculated that four hundred was enough for two months' breakfast money.
Wen Baijing raised his chin slightly, his words full of meaning, "Are you feeling sorry for me?"
She bit her lower lip lightly, lowered her eyelashes, and the ball of wool in her heart became tangled.
Wen Baijing picked up the wine glass and took a sip. His slender fingers had distinct knuckles and his jawline was clear but not sharp, which made him look more approachable and made people want to get closer. The sexy veins on his neck were clearly visible.
She was so engrossed in watching the show that the cell phone on her waist kept vibrating, disrupting her thoughts.
Ye Zhenzhen stood up and left the private room, running all the way to the water bar. She took out the phone stuck in her waist, looked at the caller ID, and her brows unconsciously locked together.
