Chapter 3 This is what I found, you can’t steal it!
Su Nian was searching in the garbage with great difficulty. Sweat kept rolling down her forehead, leaving traces on her dirty face. Her eyes were focused and anxious, and she did not miss any corner that might contain treasures. At this time, another group of people who came from other places to pick up garbage appeared.
"Hey, that figure over there looks like a woman." One of them said curiously. He narrowed his eyes and looked in the direction of Su Nian.
They walked towards Su Nian quickly, and when they saw that it was really a girl, they couldn't help but widen their eyes and open their mouths in surprise.
"Why let girls come out to pick up trash? This is too pitiful." A man with a weathered face and dark skin couldn't help but say, his eyes full of sympathy and pity.
"Girl, come with me, I can take good care of you. Although my family is not rich, I promise not to let you starve or freeze." A thin man with extremely eager eyes approached Su Nian eagerly and tried to grab her arm.
"Don't listen to him, follow me and I promise to make sure you have everything you need. I have a small house in a nearby town and we can live a stable life there." Another man who was dressed a little neater but also looked tired was not to be outdone. He squeezed past the person in front of him and handed a tattered toy he had picked up to Su Nian, as if to show his sincerity.
Su Nian felt a surge of panic in his heart, and his hands unconsciously clung to the few things he had picked up. He hurried toward the center of the original team, not daring to move even a step away.
She saw others picking up some worn-out metal parts. Although those parts were rusty, they seemed to have some value in this world, so she followed suit. Others dug out some discarded energy crystals. Although there were many cracks on the crystals, she also tried hard to find them. However, she was weak and unskilled, so she picked up very few things.
"Girl, let me help you. What you picked up is not worth much." A tall, muscular man came over, looked at the broken parts and small pieces of crystals in Su Nian's arms, shook his head and said.
"With this piece of junk of yours, it's good enough if you can sell it for ten credit points." Another man with disheveled hair and cunning eyes laughed. In his hand, he held an energy generator that looked a little more complete and waved it proudly in front of Su Nian.
"I think it's five credit points at most." Someone echoed with a scornful smile on his face.
Su Nian stubbornly refused the men's help and gritted her teeth to hold it herself. Her eyes were firm and stubborn, as if she was guarding her last dignity.
"This piece of scrap metal can probably be sold for one credit point." Su Nian calculated silently in her mind, holding the piece of metal tightly, as if it was her hope of survival in this world.
"This slightly damaged energy crystal may be worth two credit points." As she picked up the pieces, she calculated her gains in her mind. Every number made her heart heavy.
"Girl, don't work so hard. As long as you are willing to marry me, you don't have to worry about these." A man said unwillingly, his eyes fixed on Su Nian, full of expectation.
"Go away, I don't need it." Su Nian shouted loudly, his voice becoming a little sharp because of fear and anger.
At this time, a slightly older and more stable-looking man in the team spoke up: "Everyone, please stop making things difficult for this girl. Let her pick up the trash slowly. It's not easy for us, so don't fight over it."
Su Nian looked at him gratefully and continued to search hard in the garbage dump for the "treasure" that would allow her to survive.
"This small robotic arm looks like it can still be used. Maybe it can be sold for a good price." Su Nian's eyes suddenly lit up. Just as he was about to reach out to take it, another agile man got there first.
"I saw this first!" Su Nian couldn't help but shout, his voice filled with anger and unwillingness.
"Girl, give it to me, and I'll give you some money later." The man held the robotic arm tightly and refused to let go.
"No, I found this with great difficulty." Su Nian held on tightly, tears welling up in her eyes.
The two were in a stalemate, and the people around them began to talk and persuade them.
"Forget it, it's just a mechanical arm, don't ruin the relationship."
"Girl, give it to him and look for something else. Maybe there's something better waiting for you."
Finally, Su Nian reluctantly let go of his hand and continued to search hard in the garbage dump.
Just when she was about to despair, Su Nian's hand touched a hard object. She struggled to dig out the garbage around her and found that it was an exquisite metal box. There were several sparkling gems inlaid on the box. Although it was a little dim, it was still extraordinary.
"Is this a treasure?" Su Nian was pleasantly surprised and quickly hid the box in his arms.
But this scene was still seen by a sharp-eyed man nearby.
"Girl, what good stuff did you pick up? Take it out and show it to everyone." The man said with ill intention.
Su Nian held the box in his arms tightly and shook his head repeatedly.
"Don't hide it. There are good things in this garbage dump. Everyone should share some." The man pressed on.
Su Nian's heart was in her throat and she didn't know how to deal with this situation.
Facing the man's relentless pressure, Su Nian's face turned pale, and she said with a trembling voice: "This... This is nothing, just an ordinary box."
The man refused to believe it. He stretched out his hand and tried to snatch the box from Su Nian's arms: "An ordinary box? Do you think I'm stupid? Take it out now!"
Su Nian stepped back in horror, and the people around him were attracted by the commotion and gathered over.
"Don't make things difficult for this little girl. Maybe it's not worth anything." Someone in the crowd said.
"Hmph, who knows? On this garbage planet, we can't let go of anything of value." The man said viciously.
Tears welled up in Su Nian's eyes. She hugged the box tightly and cried out in a sobbing voice, "I found this. You can't take it away!"
At this time, the older man who had initially advised everyone not to embarrass Su Nian stood up and said, "Alright, stop making a fuss. This little girl has had a hard time, let her stay with her."
But the greedy man did not give up: "No! She must hand over the things today, otherwise she can't leave!"
Just when the situation was at a stalemate, there was a sudden roar, and a huge interstellar patrol car drove over. Several well-equipped law enforcement officers got out of the car.
"What are you doing?" the leading law enforcement officer shouted.
Everyone suddenly fell silent, and the man who wanted to snatch the box quickly retracted his hand.
Su Nian seemed to have seen a savior, and she quickly explained what had happened to the law enforcement officers.
The law enforcement officer looked at the box in Su Nian's arms and said, "On the Garbage Planet, anything you pick up belongs to you, and no one is allowed to snatch it."
Although the man was unwilling, he did not dare to disobey the orders of the law enforcement officers. He could only glare at Su Nian fiercely and turned away.
After the law enforcement officers left, Su Nian breathed a sigh of relief. She carefully put the box into her backpack and continued to look for other useful things in the garbage dump.
After all these twists and turns, Su Nian became more cautious. She no longer blindly followed others to pick up trash like before, but carefully observed the surrounding environment and looked for corners that were overlooked by others.
Her efforts paid off, and she found a worn-out smart bracelet in a corner buried by garbage. Although there were many scratches on the surface of the bracelet, Su Nian felt that it should still be repairable.
"This might be worth a lot of money." Su Nian was secretly happy.
Just as she was about to get up and leave, she suddenly felt someone staring at her. She turned around and saw a mysterious figure flash by.
Su Nian's heart skipped a beat, and a bad premonition came to her mind. She quickened her pace and caught up with the main group, not daring to act alone anymore.
As the sky gradually darkened, everyone began to pack up and prepare to return to the rescue station. Su Nian looked at her harvest today. Although it was not much, it also gave her a glimmer of hope.
On the way back, Su Nian kept thinking about what happened today, wondering what challenges would be waiting for her in the future.
