Chapter 1: Crossing the Junk Planet
Su Nian felt a blinding light flash before her eyes, followed by a strong dizziness in her head, and the whole world seemed to be spinning. When she finally opened her eyes again, she found herself in a completely unfamiliar and extremely dilapidated place.
As far as the eye can see, there are mountains of garbage, stretching endlessly to the end of the sight. The stench of the garbage is like the breath of the devil, strong and disgusting, mixed with the pungent smell of various chemicals, drilling straight into her nostrils. She looked down at herself. She was still wearing the doll costume that was originally used to distribute flyers, but now the doll costume was tattered and stained, with several holes deliberately dug out for the head and hands to stick out, looking so embarrassed and funny.
Su Nian looked confused and at a loss, "Where the hell is this? How did I end up in such a ghost place?" She was full of doubts and fear, "I was just handing out flyers on the streets of Modern, how come suddenly..." She tried to sort out her thoughts, but her brain was a mess.
In this mysterious and distant interstellar era, women have become extremely scarce and precious. Women with good genes are carefully protected on advanced planets, such as the "First Planet" that shines brightly like a dream. On the garbage planet where she is now, women are usually considered to have serious genetic defects and are worthless. They have no ability to give birth to offspring, no strong mental support, and their physical constitution is extremely fragile. They can only rely on men to barely survive, or desperately look for a ray of hope in this mountain of garbage.
"Hey, look at this woman, she's dressed in rags and looks like a lunatic!" Several burly men with stubble on their faces surrounded her, their eyes full of curiosity, contempt and a hint of imperceptible vigilance.
"I...where am I?" Su Nian's voice trembled, his eyes full of fear and confusion.
"Hey, what's your name? Where are you from?" one of the men asked impatiently, his voice hoarse and urgent.
Su Nian shook her head. "I... I don't know. I just remember that I was in my world before, and suddenly I was here."
"What? You don't even know how you got here? Are you mentally damaged?" The other man frowned and looked her up and down suspiciously.
"What should I do? Is it because I have lost my memory?"
"Never mind her, maybe she's just pretending."
Everyone was talking at once.
"Forget it, forget it. Don't make things difficult for this girl. She looks so pitiful." An elderly man came over, his face full of traces of time.
"Uncle, I really didn't mean it. I really don't know anything. I just remember that I was handing out flyers and then I came here." Su Nian explained anxiously, tears welling up in her eyes.
"Girl, don't cry, don't cry. Let's send you to a shelter. Maybe they can help you figure out the situation." The old man comforted.
"Yes, yes, send him to the shelter." Everyone echoed.
So, Su Nian, surrounded by the crowd, walked towards the rescue station. Along the way, she felt extremely heavy-hearted, full of fear and anxiety about this unknown world.
Finally arriving at the rescue station, Su Nian found it crowded with people who looked tired and haggard. There was an uncle holding a skinny boy in his arms, the boy's eyes were helpless and confused; there was a grandfather with a young grandson, the two of them leaning against each other, their eyes full of worries about the future.
Su Nian was surprised to find that there was not even a single woman here.
"What's going on? Why are there no women here?" Su Nian couldn't help but ask an uncle next to him.
The uncle sighed and said, "Girl, do you really not know or are you pretending not to know? In our world, women are the most precious of all treasures! Women with good genes are protected like treasures on the First Planet. How can they appear in this shabby place like ours?"
Su Nian nodded as if he understood, but the doubts in his heart deepened.
Just then, several men came over.
"Girl, what do you think of me? Although my family is not rich, as long as you follow me, I promise that I will not let you go hungry." said a short but eager-eyed man.
"Don't listen to him, girl. Choose me. I'm strong, can work, and can support you." Another tall and strong man rushed to say.
"Even if you can't have children, if you follow me, I will treat you well all my life and never leave you." A man with an honest face also expressed his opinion.
Everyone was vying to take Su Nian home.
Su Nian was frightened by this sudden enthusiasm and stepped back repeatedly, "Don't, don't come over, I..."
"Girl, don't be picky. Here, it's good enough to have a man to rely on."
"Yes, girl, it's very dangerous for you to wander around here alone."
Su Nian's heart was filled with confusion and helplessness. She didn't know how to deal with the enthusiasm of these people, nor did she know where to go in this strange world.
"Brothers, please don't force me. I really need some time to calm down." Su Nian's voice was tearful.
At this time, the staff of the rescue station came over and said, "Stop arguing, let this girl calm down first."
The crowd gradually quieted down, but still cast eager glances at him from time to time.
Su Nian sat in a corner, hugging her knees, her mind in a mess. She missed her original world, her family and friends, and wondered if she could ever go back.
"What kind of world is this? Why is it like this?" Su Nian murmured to himself.
Su Nian sat in a corner of the shelter, her mind full of thoughts. She looked around the simple and dilapidated shelter, her heart filled with shock and disbelief.
The walls of the shelter were mottled, as if they had been eroded for countless years, with graffiti and stains telling of the chaos and helplessness of the past. The chandelier on the ceiling was shaky, emitting a dim and unstable light, making the entire space seem gloomy and depressing.
The ground was full of potholes, filled with sewage and unknown liquids, emitting a disgusting smell. In the corners were piled old quilts, dirty and worn by countless people. Several old chairs were tilted here and there, as if they would fall apart at any time.
At the entrance of the rescue station, garbage ships kept whizzing by. They were like ruthless beasts, dumping tons of garbage on the land. The garbage piled up like a mountain, endlessly, as if there was no end. All kinds of scrap metal, plastic, and electronic components were mixed together, forming a mountain of garbage that exuded a foul odor.
